Lanhydrock  Bodmin.  Said to be the finest house in Cornwall, Lanhydrock is set in 910 acres of woods and parkland and is encircled by a garden of rare shrubs and trees.  42 rooms to view ranging from the kitchens to the Long Gallery, its plaster ceiling depicting scenes from the Old Testament. The museum traces the very interesting history of the influential Robartes family from 1600 through the

Civil War to the fire of 1880 which destroyed much of the house, to the untimely deaths of all  four male members in the first world war, effectively ending three centuries of ownership of Lanhydrock by the Robartes. Walks down to the River Fowey and Respryn Bridge and back through woods.  National Trust owned.
