Thornbrook is situated 300 metres level walk from South Milton Sands, a well-known safe, sandy beach. The large well-equipped detached house enjoys sea or country views from most rooms. It has an enclosed mainly lawn garden, with a barbecue, and a deck from the French window in the sitting room overlooking the sea, also parking for two or three cars.
Inside there are 5 bedrooms, sleeping 9, ( max. 7 adults), plus cots & high chairs for 2 babies.
Linen is available at an extra charge. Oil for central heating and hot water are charged for the amount used, calor gas for the cooker is included in the rental. There is a payphone in the hall. Change-over is Saturday. Arrival time after 3.0pm. Time of departure by 10.30am. Regrettably no pets.
Activities available near Thornbrook
Walking: The N.T. coastal footpath is a few metres away, with glorious views to Bantham one way, and Salcombe, via Hope Cove and Bolt Tail the other.
Swimming: Beaches at S.Milton Sands- 300m. (One of the safest in the South West.) Also Hope Cove-1 mile, and Bantham. Indoor pool at Kingsbridge-6 miles.
Windsurfing: S.Milton Sands, tuition available
Bird-watching: From Thornbrook, view S.Huish Nature Reserve
Golf: Thurlestone Golf Course sited by the sea, 1 mile via footpath, or 4 miles by car
Tennis: Courts for hire at Thurlestone Golf Club.
Sailing: Salcombe- 6 miles, has boats for hire.
Horse-riding: Near Loddiswell, hacking and tuition.
Fishing: Boat trips from Hope Cove and Salcombe
Other Facilities
Restaurants: Beacon Point Hotel and Heron House, both under 300 metres away. Also plenty of choice at Salcombe and Kingsbridge.
Pubs: At Hope Cove, Thurlestone, Malborough, West Alvington, Salcombe, Bantham.
Shops: Good variety at Kingsbridge & Salcombe
Provisions: There is a large Somerfield at Kingsbridge; Also a Spar at Malborough which is open late.
South Milton and Thurlestone have local shops.The N.T.Beach Shop is open in summer for hot and cold snacks. Also Milk, bacon, rolls etc, is available in the high season.

Description of Thornbrook
This is a brilliantly positioned, comfortable, mainly double-glazed house, with central heating ideally suitable for one or two families on holiday.
Ground Floor. Hall with payphone. Large Sitting room 22 x13 ft., 2 sofas, colour T.V.,video, open Baxi fire. Dining room. Large fitted Kitchen (washing machine, dish-washer, calor gas cooker with eye level grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, food processor, coffee machine, large plate warmer) breakfast table with two benches. Cloakroom with W.C. and basin. Outside kitchen door, out-house with dryer and chest freezer.
First Floor. Large twin bedroom (3 ft beds), basin. Small bathroom ( suite, bath shower). Small double bedroom (4 ft 6” bed), with basin, fitted wardrobe. Large bathroom ( bath, basin, 5 rung hot water towel rail). Separate W.C.
Second Floor. Twin bedroom (3 ft beds), fitted wardrobe. Childrens twin bedroom (2ft6” beds) basin. Single bedroom (3ft. bed).
Outside: Thornbrook has 1/3 acre garden (mainly lawn) with two entrance gates, and parking for 2 or 3 cars.
The small lawn, to the left and behind the property has decking, garden tables and chairs and overlooks the South Huish Nature Reserve and the sea. Next to that is a paved area with barbecue, which is behind the kitchen.
To the right of the property is a larger lawn.

Linen. Bath-mats, hand towels, and tea towels are provided. All other linen extra (see sheet for rates).All beds have duvets, and 2 pillows each.

Directions to Thornbrook:-Take A381 Kingsbridge /Salcombe road. Go right 1 mile west after West Alvington marked S Milton. (Do not take the first turning signposted Thurlestone).Go into S.Milton, and take the 1st left. Ignore sign ahead saying Thurlestone Sands. 2 miles to National Trust beach car park. Carry on roughish track past Rock House Flats. Bear left, Thornbrook is 2nd house on left.
